![]() An editor might try to experiment during this stage, such as placing shots and soundbites in a different order to what was originally specified adding in additional material they may even take out some sections, but don’t panic, a good editor is always working with your objectives front and centre in mind. At this stage it’s less about the technical process (making things look nice and shiny) and more about shaping a cohesive story based on the creative treatment or storyboard. The offline edit process is where the narrative or structure of the edit is built. The first thing to know is that there are two stages to the editing process the offline and the online, and that these stages are usually split into draft/feedback/amend cycles between the video production agency and the client. It’s sometimes a little tricky to explain the editing process without descending into technical mumbo-jumbo, so I’ll do my very best to avoid too much jargon. In this week’s article, we’ll look at what goes on in the post-production process, explain the differences between offline and online edits, and look at how best to manage the feedback and amend process with your chosen video production agency during this time. It might feel a little strange to leave your content in the hands of someone else, but editors will still require your input and feedback, it just needs to be at the right stage. Regarding your last question: no sorry, that doesn't seem possible, but i don't know if it's a bug or a feature. The post-production process can sometimes feel a little hands-off from a client’s perspective, but it doesn’t have to be like that. you just want to increase brightness but leave color as is. in this preset you can define for each channel separately if e.g. if you don't like that, you can create a preset that in setup you make the highlight preset. ![]() I think Highlight Preset is worth mentioning: default behaviour of highlight is to bring up intes and to remove color and gobos(?). you can also, instead of using the setup option, type remdim and a level each and every time in the command line that you use to start highlight mode: Chan 1 Highlight RemDim 03 Enter. if you activate Highlight RemDim in setup (by setting a value in %), highlight will not only bring up the selected channel, it will also suppress the unselected ones. Highlight is a way to bring each selected channel to full. i personally use remdim to remove other levels, but after that i continue with other commands, not with the mini-mode. this next/last thing is a bit like a mini-highlight mode and as such is a bit tempting. now you can either go on with other commands or you can use next and last to select channels and change them. Chan 5 50 RemDim 03 Enter, will bring channel 5 to 50 and all the other channels that have now an intensity > 0 to 3. Remdim is a way to do something with all active channels that were not selected in the same command line. click on the small font below the logo that says change console mode. In the shell of your offline editor, does the logo say Element or Eos? if it says element, then you're in element mode. ![]()
